In some situations, you may want to request a continuance in order to change the date of your court appearance.
If your arraignment is in Fort Collins Municipal Court, go to the Clerk of Court office, located on the 2nd floor at 201 LaPorte Ave., at least 24 hours in advance of your court date. Request a continuance in order to seek legal counsel.
The first continuance is free, the second continuance is $10.00 and the third continuance must be granted by the judge and there is an additional fee. The maximum time for a continuance is two weeks.
Make a note of the date and time of the new court date, and call the clerk again the next day at 221-6800 to verify your court date and time to ensure that the process was completed.
