Who is not eligible to use our services?

• Part-time students taking less than 6 credits during the Fall or Spring semesters
• Graduate students paying only the continuous registration fee
• Acceptance of business related matters is determined on a case by case basis and advice is limited
• Landlords and sublessors for property related issues(referred to community attorney when appropriate)
• Adverse Parties (people who have a conflict with a current or past client of our office)

As a group legal service, Student Legal Services attempts whenever possible to provide a plan for the handling of conflict of interest situations (by way of one example, those cases involving two students on opposite sides of an issue). In cases where a conflict of interest exists-or the potential for a conflict exists-Student Legal Services may refer one of the parties to a private attorney in the community, and pay for a one-half hour consultation. It is entirely within the discretion of Student Legal Services to determine if a conflict exists, or whether a student is entitled to a community referral.
