A living will, also known as a declaration as to medical or surgical treatment, makes known whether you would or would not like to be kept alive by life support. Because the state may not allow your family to make this decision, you may wish to have a document making your desire known in the event you are terminally ill.
A living will is an entirely different document from a personal will.
You may want to consult an attorney regarding whether a living will is a good choice for you, and to make sure that your living will is valid.
Student Legal Services prepares living wills for eligible students.
